Sick of trunk carpet sliding and subs sliding?
My first "mod" to the Honda!
I finally got tired of my dry rotted **** cardboard spare tire cover, and my sub and trunk carpet sliding all over the place so I did something.
It's just a $5 piece of OSB from Lowes, a couple of gate hinges and some carpet.
The hinges are to make it easier taking it in and out of the trunk. 2x4 screwed to bottom of center piece to rest on spare and provide some reinforcement. White paint is just primer to help protect the cheapo OSB.
I know the carpet doesn't match, but I had it from another project. I bought it for a sub box, but the rigid backing on it made it too hard to work with for that.
Now I can secure the sub box to the floor without drilling any sheet metal.
All said and done, about $10 and 45 minutes in and I have this..

anyone else here have a problem with the spare rattling/clunking in the trunk with the sub in there?
I've tried to reposition the sub all over and no matter what it's just driving the spare into the floor of the trunk.

That's for the other car if and when I get around to building a box for it.. Just borrowed it for weight for this.
Now that's not going anywhere.
Not really.. Even with the stock cardboard piece. Unless I just can't hear it.. Maybe lay down a layer of sound deadener under the tire to cushion it. I'm not a fan of asphalt based stuff, but you could pick up some peel n stick from Home Depot to experiment with..
