Memphis cops don't care at all. I see people riding around town with 5% tint all around all the time. I've heard that the only time they would do something is if they pulled you over for something else.

 

in south cali...its illegal to get any kind of tints in front windows... anyways...bottom line is...depend on the cop...MOST of them dont care... but there are some douche bag cop that will pull u over for it... i hate cops that pull you over for stupid things like tinted windows, no front license plate, etc...

on my previous cars ive had 10% i believe, either way it was illegal. cops would always comment on it and say to get it checked but they never gave me a ticket or anything. on my current civic i did it legal though. i would say as long as its not obvious u can get away with it in some areas.

 

i had a lot of the same questions as you but i finally decided to go with 35 on the front two windows and the two rear with the rear windshield at 20. the guy who did the tint suggested i do this for a darker look but also that cops generally only test the windows that roll down.

 

for jax Fl i thought the limit was 35% all around, but legal is 35% in the front windows and 15% in the back and thats legal and plenty dark for me.
