This part on my civic is peeling off leaving the bare silver metal under it showing. Its some sort of tape-like strip. Does anyone know what its called and where I can get some?

illustration #'s 4 & 6. or you can paint your current ones with a wrinkle coat or flat black. (that is if that's the part you're refferring to)

 

its your weatherstripping. yes, you can get some new but i have only seen full kits.

 

Ya I guess I can just paint it, Im sure that little tape layer isnt a big deal. Im getting the car painted in sept, Ill just let them peel the rest off and paint over it.

 

ya for the cost..... id just paint them....... mines starting to crack.... and they just cost to much..... thats quite a bit of cash to spend on something thats just gonna crack and split open again........

 

when i get the time and repaint a bunch of things, i plan on removing them and painting them with either a light wrinkle coat or a flat/low gloss black.

 

If you plan on keeping the car for a wile, i say buy new ones...but they are not cheap.

 

Really, they cost alot? Its just a strip of grip tape.

 

when i priced them one site wanted like 75bucks EACH side... i was like F THAT!!!!! and stoped looking for them new.LOL
ill just sand em and paint em.....
