So does any one know the specifics/rules on window tinting in IL?

 

It really depends on the cop. I had my windows tinted 5 percent, and the two front ones 35 percent and i never got stopped for it (for like a year). Then i sold the car and the guy got a warning like the next day.

 

According to the state laws, you are able to put any % tint you choose and it doesn't have to be a certified window tinting shop. Hope that helps. P.S. Also like cyberx32 said, the cop can probably be a punk about it, so be careful!
