Default Any Trek fans?

Paramount finally released a group shot of the cast and a shot of the new bridge. I think JJ Abrams has really screwed up with this one. It doesn't pay enough tribute to the original, and in general makes the Enterprise bridge look like it was manufactured by Apple. Seriously, it's like an iPod with blue LEDs. I think it's gonna **** off the old fan base.

Its kinda like the new Star Wars movies, no matter what there are going to be people that whine. Its a fact of life. LOL

I can't wait. Just having a new Trek movie to see is enough for me. It may suck, it be great. Either way I am looking forward to it.

What bothers me is that I read somewhere that this new rendition is not meant to pay homage to the old franchise. It's meant to start a new one. The example they used was the new Batman movies: Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. They were completely different from the old movies, yet they were the same people. Those movies began a new lucrative Batman franchise. Paramount has decided that it's time to do the same with Star Trek.

Now, if it works out as a new franchise I'll be thrilled, but if it crashes and burns...

So true. Its the same with Casino Royale. It is almost completely unrelated to any of the old James Bond movies. It was very good, granted, but a completely different franchise. I'll go see the new Trek movie as a devotee but I'm concerned. Oh well~
