Default Bad habbit question

Say if your in traffic and it moves along slowly doesit damage your gearbox ifyou justgo into first gear and and gas to it and let the car roll forward, but then put it in neutral after a little gas and let the car keep rollin untill you break.

I do this all the time and ive been told that it might mess up my gearbox.

Also i go from gears into neutral without holding the clutch down is that bad also?

I do this all the time, except I hit the clutch to go into neutral.

As you start to let up on the gas, put light pressure on the lever towards neutral. Pops out of gear easily and with no damage to the tranny. If you let up THEN try to push the lever into neutral, you run into resistance that may eventually cause damage. Practice. I stop using the clutch to hit neutral years ago and have yet to have any tranny damage.I feel I am saving the throwout bearing and hyd cylinder.
