So last month my neighbors backed into my rear drivers side door, so of course i needed a new door. Now i've already had my car repaired once, about a year ago because an old person that shouldn't have been driving hit me, but that's beside the point. I hate the thought of having body work done to my car because i know that in a way, my car will never be the same again. I get the call today that i can come pick up my civic, and of course i check the car over thouroughly. Right off that bat i notice that there are3 gouges in my tint on the window glass, so i point that out and say that needs to be fixed, since that was not there before. They say no problem, they get in touch with insurance and they will have it re-tinted. So that lightened me up a little, for a little bit at least. Then i go to drive my car home, and i test the window on the door that was replaced and goes up and down just fine, for about 5 times, then i put it down and when i try to put it up, it won't go up at all. I hear the motor running, but the window is stuck down. Now im pissed. I tell the guy about it, and the only way to get it back up was to pull it up by hand, which did a number on the tint, it made the biggest cut in the tint (about 5 inches long). When i shut the door i heard a ball bearing drop looseinside the door. I was told that was part of the window actuator or something like that (i don't remember exactly what he said). So im taking it back in tomarow to hopefully be fixed for good.

One question. When they fix the window, what are the chances that it will break again? And, how did it scratch my tint? Thats what im most worried about. Does anyone have a diagram of the window system for the 99-00 sedan?

Sounds like they didn't have everything bolted together proper, thats for sure. That, and the scratch in the tint, shows carelessness...

As far as I know the only thing that could "break" in a door is the electric motor, or the regulator mechanism (the funky arms inside your door that make the glass go up and down). as long as its put back together properly everything should be fine...

listen i had a person too old to be driveing total my car you would not believe the sh*tni went through with her insurance and my insurance and dident get a car til 2 months anyway in the end it all worked out though. but in reference to your problem my guess is they got a salveged door and painted it to save money your best bet is to go to the stealership besides its not your money it's the other guys insurance.
