So i am driving in a neighborhood around here in columbus ohio......not speeding not racing in any way shape or form.......nobody out no kids no nothing mind you....i come to a stop sign i slow down for it but dont stop complely and turn right....as i turn right a black Cadillac pulls diagonally in the road the man flashes his high beams at me and gets out of his car.....he puts his hand up to stop and walks over to my car since i cant go anywhere...he then proceeds to say .....
Him: what the hell are you doing man?
Me: what do you mean
Him: you just rolled right through that stop sign back there
Me: i slowed down just didnt stop all the way
Him: well i am an off duty police officer but i can be on duty really ****ing fast
Me: and your point is?
Him: there are kids in this neighborhood (none out cause its 12:30 and all are at school)
Me: i wasnt driving recklessly i just didnt stop all the way dude
Him: how old are you and do u have any warrants ...he then proceedes to walk to the back of my car to get plate # and he says he is gonna call me in to the police station....
Me: your not on duty you cant do anything at all...random cuss words i back up and drive the other way

He then follows me for about 7 miles then i take an off ramp really quick and lose him

I should have just plowed into his car parked diagonally he would have been at fault lol

so what he did is that legal in any way???? sounds like abuse of power to me

 

Yea they can do that, don't be a smart *** with them either because then your just making it worse for yourself. Be nice to them no matter wtf they are doing, I've been pulled over I thnk 3 times and havn't ever gotten a ticket. Just yes sirs and no sirs and you probably will not get in trouble unless you did something really stupid.

 

bro he can arrest you and wright you a ticket even off duty

and NEVER have an attitude with a cop unless you like cuffs and tazers if you would have apoligised you would have been fine. I did a 3rd gear tire roast for like 1 minute in a parking lot with an off duty cop he ran my plates let me go he asked if i could afford a $200 reclass driving ticket i said no he let me go

 

yyaaa i believe they can do it even off duty. if he wrote u a ticket or something then and there, maybe not, but im sure him stopping u and reporting it is fine. since it sounds like u prolly pissed him off and that u say he got ur plate, i'd expect a ticket or some sort of trouble soon lol. always, no matter what, be calm and kind to police, they can turn a minor traffic violation into a big big headache for u very easily and legally.. what i prolly would have done is ask for his badge number or some sort of identification and even ask him to call in another police officer. i'd rather have an on-duty uniformed officer bitch at me sinceu never know who it could really be these days...

 

Did he show you a badge? For all you know he was trying to rape you. And if he persisted, you could have called 911 to send and on duty officer over.

 

he would also have to be an officer in your area where you were, say he is a cop in a neighboring town he cant do anything off duty out of his juridiction, at least thats how it is here

yahi was in a similar situation. well not similiar but under the same topic. we were at a house after school preping for a street fight and everything goes down as planned then a bounty hunter comes up and arrests the 3 fighting. then the cops came. it was pretty gay but yah man they can do pretty much whatever they want. as trick daddy says; "Motha fu(k the popo!!!"
