A stock BASE Cooper wouldnt be able to come anywhere close to my (RAW) time on an autox course.
Aaaand that's why they don't compete against each other.

Just based on the results from nationals, it's clear which car has the advantage in its class

it tells me that amongst the drivers who are skilled enough to compete at the national level, the MINI is the car of choice for G Stock and H Stock. I didn't look at the results for STS/SM/mod/prepared classes, so maybe the SRT-4 is the vehicle of choice for one of those...

there is a guy from my region who goes to nationals in a Neon, but it's in STS, not a stock class.

I wouldnt hold my breath on the SRT4 being the drivers choice for one of these events. Its characteristics are too unpredictible, it takes a lot more to balance an SRT4 at its limits than it does an RSX, WRX, Integra etc...However if you can "tame" the car it will most certinly reward the driver.

The majority of drivers I see piloting SRT4's havent a clue what they're doing. Its just too much car for a lot of younger drivers, and most veteran drivers arent driving around in "hopped up neons"

So people who can actually drive these cars on a track at its limits are few and far between. Gary Howell, and John Fernandez are 2 names that come to mind when SRT4s are mentioned in autox

how come with all the money for cars you never do anything to your civic?
My Civic is serving its duty right now as a good reliable daily driver. I have a friend off cape whos going to build my motor and then turbo it. Im getting around to it. By this coming spring im shooting for 250-285 whp out my Civic.

While im driving to Boston its saving me tons of money to drive the Civic, im getting upper 30's mpg while speeding. I got 2 cars on the road, I got 24 thousand for my STi, i put 15k down on the GC, and the rest im throwing in the bank.
No offense or anything but " im getting upper 30's mpg while speeding " isnt that kind of hypocritical...being an officer of the law and everything. While you and your co-workers are pulling people over and giving them unfair fines for the same thing??

no.

Get used to it. I take the same consquence when stepping into my Privatley owned vehicle as you do. If i get away with a little speeding ticket, just think of it as a fair trade of when i step in front of a bullet trying to protect an innocent victim I dont even know like yourself. and believe me, every cop doesnt get away with every speeding ticket.

I put my life on the line EVERY DAMN day, and I wouldnt trade it for the world. If I can speed under my own control, while having the high speed evaise training that I have been given, in exchange for protecting and serving innocent people like yourself then guess what?

Im going to speed.

i really don't get your posts sometimes, you say the srt-4 is a great autox car, then you defend it by saying noone knows how to drive it good, then you say that its to unpredictable to be the crivers car of choice?

WTF, the srt4 is a good car for what it was made for, it isn't gonna save the world like superman. it doesn't have to be the best at everything. its not the best car for autox. but you put that same srt-4 on a larger track against cars designed for autox like a mini, it is clearly the better car, driver skill being equal.
