I am 17 and I went to get a quote at progressive for insurance that at the lowest is 1100 bucks a year for this little car!
My dad is paying like 600 or less a year for our SUV that is a 4x4!
I have to pay for this whole car myself. I am going to work for what I get.
But I will have a car payment of 160 or so a month and then their is gas and saving up for taxes and such. I cant pay 1000+ a year for stupid insurance.
Does anyone here my age pay less if you pay it yourself? Who is your insurance co.?

You're 17 what do you expect, you are still considered a risk, I'm assuming your male, you own a sports compact car, you have 1 year of less of driving history and you are only paying 550 every 6 months; that's not bad for your age, etc.

I have an 02 coupe, a 98 Cherokee, average insurance on both, collision on the 02, limited tort. I'm with Progressive and I pay 1200 a year. I'm 24.

Expect to pay 1k or more a year till your 25 and that's if you keep your driving record clean of accidents and tickets.

 

Holy crap, I wish I paid that little for insurance. I'm going to be 21 in 11 days, and I pay around $300 a month. Damn NY insurance. I have liberty mutual and I'm still under my parents plan. So imagine how much I would be paying if I was on my own. Be happy that you pay that little, I pay around 3600 a year.

My rate of 1100 was for full coverage. Man I thought it was just me....Yes im male and since im just 17 yes I have less than 1 year with the REAL liscense.
Oh well...
Guess I will have to figure out a way to come up with the money. Maybe work more. Argh...

 

I pay 143 per month for full-coverage but I have 1 ticket and two accidents on my record and im 23. Main reason I dont own a twin turbo 300zx right now.

 

i actually pay more to insure my 06 civic ex coupe than i did to insure my 03 WRX!

people steal civics left and right here in the U.S. so i have to pay for the privelege of owning such a car. I hate people...

on the brightside, my insurance isn't that bad. I pay roughly $125 a month to insure my wife's 04 accord and my 06 civic.

i paid WAY less than that when i had a WRX and my wife had a ford escape. i think it was barely $100 a month at the time.

 

21, $47 a month for liability in California.

 

I pay $58 a month, full coverage. Nobody snickerin' about us midwesterners now!
