yea fiirk is the shizant with ipods.

But i got a question fiirkan. Why do updates eat my song space? Why do they have to do updates anyway?
iTunes update, iPod sync update or iPod software update?
If it's iPod sync update then you probably selected the autosync.
I think he is refering to ipod software updates, the reason they take up more space is cause, they have to fix certain bugs within the ipod or the compatability for the ipod to work with windows, (i.e. Windows Vista) why how much space is your's atking up? There is also the fact that sinec the ipods are hard drive based, just like every other hard drive on the market you are not going to get exactly what it says it is, for example if you get a 30GB ipod you will only get arround 27GB of actual storage space on the ipod itself.

Thanks guys. Helped out alot. This is my first Ipod. Really don't know much about them.

I picked up a blue 4 gb nano for pretty cheep.

The only flaw (not really a flaw)I can tell is when i scroll around tothemenu button it touches the plastic.

I'll try to explaine it the best i can. It's like when you walk on a hard wood floor. If there is a loose board it screaches against the other board. Well thats what this does. The white touch pad rubs against the blue part making a little screach noise.

Is this fixable?

Well, its not too bad on mine but there arne anybigs and it drives me nuts because it makes me update my ipod.

My little stepbrother had a 2gig nano that he hasnt used in forever. I hooked it up for him to put new songs and the updates took like 30% of his space!

If it take up that much room Rammy restore it then sync it.

And 2slo4u. if it is making any noises then that isn't good, cause there is no moving parts on the ipod. other then when you press the button it moves up and down. or is that what you are refering to?

The 2nd gen shuffles are juicy, I'm not much of an iPod fan but those things just look awesome. Would totally work out with that any day... can't work out with my iriver... it's like having a brick in my pocket. I just don't like not having a screen but for working out, riding my bike and jogging it should be pretty tight. If I could only get the money for one.
