ok so i finally have some ppl here building a computer for me for when i move out so i wanted to know what you guys thought about what i decided to get....not the best i dont think but still purdy darn good i think for the money.

1. 2 512mb 533mhz pc4200 ddr2 240pin dimm (not sure about all that means)

2.amd athlon 64x2 dual core 3800+ socket-am2 processor

3.asus m2npv-vm nforce 430/Geforce 6150 amd socket am2 uatx audio video gigabit sata 3gb/s raid dvi-d hdtvout firewire

4.western digital 250gb sata II 8mbbuffer 7200rpm HD

5.optical mouse and keyboard

6.aspire x-disovery blue case with 420w PS.

now keep in mind that i dont do gaming on here or anything like that,i just needed something pretty decent.....so what do you guys think about the setup???

 

Decent for a sub 500 budget system. Not sure about the WD HDD though

 

^ agreed. i would go with PC2-5300 DDR2 Dual channel though.. that is me though

 

my thoughts exactly. I would also go with Pentium D dual core. They are awesome for overclokcing and are better then athlon imo.

 

lol damn then i might have to see what they have and what i can get.....the guy just told me this was a pretty good setup so i wasnt sure.I know everyone kinda has thier own opinion so that all gets in there too.I know those choices arent the best but i thought it wasnt crap either.

Your setup is perfect if all you are going to use it for is surfing/ms office

Athlon 3800s x2 are very solid cpu's, dont worry about getting a pentium those are much more expensive.

My two suggestions are consider 2 gigs of ram and definatly get a antec power supply, those psu that come with a case are total garbage

 

i guess ill just have to ask some more questions tomm about it and see....

 

just be sure to get a dual core cpu and dual channel memory (it's much faster then the older type).
