new comp in the making.....tell me what you think??
u dont need dual core or 2 Gigs of Ram ur good with 512 and a 250 GB HDD might even be WAY to much for u too. U could easily go down to an 80 Gig hdd and be satisfied.. if ur not gaming or anything
nope i wont be gaming at all....i have my ps2 and later on a ps3 so im good on that.i can always upgrade later though you know....windows xp is gonna cost a hundred though so i gotta add that on there.
I'd say ditch the 3800, add $20 and go for the 4200 ($99). It's much better for the long run. You can not have a core 2 duo for less than $100 yet so AMD is still a excellent choice . Save the money for later and add a nice video card if you want to upgrade to Vista (You can get a very nice one like the 8500GT for $100)
I forgot. Even though I have never used Western Digital, I have many friends who had bad experience with them. So you might want to look for Seagate or Hitachi instead.

With the setup you're proposing - he might as well keep his current machine.

sure. If you want to throw it away in about 2 years. 80gig HDD is wayy too small. I have 80gigs and I'm running out of space. I have a couple of gigs of music, decent amount of movies and one game installed. I only have 8gigs free.
With the setup you're proposing - he might as well keep his current machine.
