Eh, I bought a Samsung 19" widescreen monitor and it's more then big enough. I can't imagine sitting in front of anything bigger. When I first got this monitor, it took me more than a few days to adjust to the size. I got this one for $185 after rebates - it was a heck of a deal. (Samsung 941BW)

it doesnt include a monitor....what price do you think it should be at???
400-450. DELL monitors are very nice and cheap, you can't go wrong with them. 19" is very nice too.

Eh, give yourself a budget and really try to stick to it.. there are a lot of options for computers and it's way too easy to overspend. If you only wanna spend 500 then only spend 500, seriously.

Bout the only thing I'd do different would be to go for a dualk core pentium 4, but thats only because I don't like AMD much... but that would change your whole setup.

That's very difficult to do. Like I've stated in one of my earlier posts - back in november I decided to build a pc after my e-machine crapped out. I set a budget of $500 and ended up spending $900. I figured that I would get the best stuff I could afford at the time, since pcs and components get obsolete fast these days. That's why I got a computer that can be upgraded quite a bit down the line (the mobo supports up to 8gigs of ram, intel quad core cpus, 4 onboard SATA sockets + 1 external SATA, and like most of the ASUS boards, it's very good for overclocking; The case is big and has 4cd-rom drive bays and has 4 vents for cooling in case I want to add more fans)

I know it's hard, trust me.. but it's really helpful if you can do it. That's really why I said "try to stick to it" it is difficult, but for his needs it shouldn't be too hard honestly.

BTW earlier someone mentioned Dells being propritery and whatnot. Dell isn't proprietary, you'll have no problems upgrading a Dell yourself at all. I have a Dell myself (not my choice trust me, but that's a story for another day) and I have looked at it thoroughly, nothing on it is proprietary and the case is even built for easy upgrades. It has those quick swap no screw clips on everything and the case is plenty roomy. I wasn't a fan of Dell for a long time, but I really have to hand it to them, thier newer stuff is pretty alright and kudos to them for not outsourcing thier tech support (well, they did for a while, but decided to stop it pretty quickly... but yeah).

Anywho, just make sure whatever you get is gonna suit your needs for a while or you will definitely find yourself dissatisfied or wanting to upgrade very shortly after.

I think that Dell is the best bang for the buck out there. It's cheaper then building a pc yourself and their warranty service is top notch. If you need something replaced - they will take care of it really fast.
