RE: new car dillema
I voted for the Civic. An Si would be nice, but that's not very good on gas I think
The reason why you want to get another car is because of gas prices.
So.. probabaly get which ever one has the best gas mileage

RE: new car dillema
Recently, I was going through the same process you are and considering the same cars.
I wound up with the Mazda3. I can't say enough good things about it. I love it!
Don't count them out. At least test drive one. Start at the "s" trim level so you don't have to waste your time driving their 2.0l engined cars. Mine came with a 2.3DOHC which, incidentally, makes a few ponies less than an 06 Si but makes 10 more lb of torque. It's available with a sweet manual AND an equally sweet Sport AT which is immediately responsive and functional. And it's stock wheels are 17in.
I was able to get mine at invoice price after about a week of working all of the dealerships in my area. You'll probably be able to do equally well, especially if you start today near the end of the month.
