One Police Agency Sabotages Another Agency's Speed Traps
From another forum lol
OK, so I'm posting this from my parents house in Detroit. After my flight landed yesterday, I noticed there were gangs of cops sitting outside the airport on I-94. This is very unusual to me since every time I come to Detroit, I rarely ever see any type of traffic enforcement.
But what I noticed is that the Wayne County sheriff's dept were sitting on the side of the road with their lights flashing, but not shooting laser or stopping anyone. It turns out, that he has his lights on to warn drivers to slow down for the impending speed trap ahead by the Romulus police.
Then, I get home to my parents house and turn on the local news, and they were doing a story on this very thing.
The Airport and Wayne Co. cops admitted that they were just sitting on the road trying to warn drivers that the Romulus police have a cash-grab trap ahead when they were interviewed.
They state that they are going to buy a billboard to warn people about the overzealous Romulus speed enforcement and are currently passing out flyers to warn drivers coming into the area.
Only in Metro Detroit.
I love being home.

Michigan is also one of the only states whose State Police are not just out for a cash grab.
There was legislation passed a few years ago that states that in construction zones, fines are only doubled when workers are present as opposed to other states, where if the area is simply marked as a work zone, fines are doubled.
Not only that, they also made it so that the construction zone speed limit only applies when workers are present, otherwise you can go through the zone at the normal 70MPH limit.
The state police have also gone on TV stating that they are spotting drivers 10-15 MPH on most interstates.
Cliff notes: One police agency is out to put a stop on overzealous speed trap enforcement by another agency.
