I am getting my timing belt done, so Pep boys said theyd do it for 200 bucks. Talk about bait and switch. I brought my OWN timing belt and water pump and they are telling me theyll change it all for 545$. Yea ok pal kiss my ***. Called up honda. What do you think of this price?

Labor. 310$-10% discount. $280. Ive been sittin on the parts for awhile, so this is going to cost me 280$. Id love to do it myself, but i dont have the time or the space to do it. I have the money, and im thinking the honda tech can fix my idle problem for free.. Theyre pretty cool guys. What are you guys paying at the dealership?

 

I went to a mechanic and paid about $650 for the pump, belt, some oil seals, and labor.

Pep Boys sucks, and I could have told you that before you picked up the phone to ask them to do your job.

 

Yea, i mean it took the guy at the counter 20 minutes to enter my info into the computer correctly. Then i said "So how much?" He goes "$544" and i said "What about the $200 i was quoted?" Then the good for nothing ***** went to speak, and i said "Eh save it buddy, I'll pay less at the dealer." The guy sat there and argued with me that the timing belts they sold were better then the one i got at honda. I dont think so pal.

 

ill have to agree with you on this. i wouldnt even had called them. just look at the 'accesories' isle. talk about rice capital

 

Pep Boys should burrrrnnn....they have sold me wrong, overpriced parts multiple times and than argued that I was the one wrong... I never go there anymore...

 

the reason why the labor is so high is cause they have to learn how to do it by the book. but first they have to learn how to read and they have to do all that on your time.

 

If you have a car-x in your area they do honest work
and honest prices. I have been going there for many
years and never had a complaint. The things I don't
want to do or can't gets sent to car-x. It's called muffler
and brake shop but they can do just about anything you need.
their mechanics are ASE certified, pep boys and walmart
are minimum wage otherwise unemployables.

I used to be a Pep Girl when I was younger.... and oh the stories I could tell.....needless to say if it's not a chemical that I need that I can't find somewhere else... I don't go there!
