Its all true. The gov't would rather try to save face than to try and save lives. Its sad to see that the "greatest country in the world" is still run by the greedy higher class who don't care about the little people. Just my opinion. Don't wanna start anything. He said it himself: nobody's coming for them. Strong stuff indeed

You know, when Katrina first struck and the media found out how terrible it was I thought, 'you know at least everytime America faces something this awful it brings out the best in our country and unites everyone,' but god damn I was wrong this time. Not to start a dem vs. repub war or anything but everyone knows that this should have been and could have been handled better. Despite the fact that nobody could predict the levies breaking, we're the most powerful country in the world and we've got pleanty of people and pleanty of money to fight a war across the world but were not prepared to defend ourselves against an attack from mother nature or anyone else. Had that been a bomb instead of a hurricane would we have responded the same way? It makes me sick when I see American people survive a god damn hurricane only to die of dehydration waiting in line for water. My prayers to the people who live down there and the families working through these times. You know. some morons at my work started complaining that a bunch of people (victims) were being shipped to Portland, OR (northwest) and they were gonna get jobs... I was like WTF your complaining cause those people are coming to 'steal' your jobs, the ones that lost family and friends, that lost everything including their jobs and homes... and your complaining? Needless to say i'm not part of the 'water cooler gang' anymore, F*** them.

One of my teachers told me today that he predicted the levies braking last year if there were to be a hurricane. Also, there was a bill or something in congress last year to appropriate money to strengthen (sp) the levies but was denied cause they thought it was "pork" (a congressman trying to get money into his district) The government could have handeled this much better. All the people who are left in N.O. right now are mostly poor people who didn't have enough money to evacuate. Think there are any rich ppl that didn't get out?

I listen to the PBR every night, and last night 3 people called to correct a bunch of people across the country that were yelling and carring on about the levies, that the levies did not brake. They were damaged and leaking but they didnt break, these were assorted people who are currently working in n.o. just fyi.

I think we pretty much agree. The government could've handle things better but I don't think it was one party vs. the other party. As a collective unit, they are all to blame. And no, I don't think any rich people stayed behind because I'm sure they owned other houses somewhere else.

The best way to help is to volunteer or donate money/clothes or whatever you can. My friend is going over there from NY because he's a cop and he is looking forward to making a difference. My church and I are helping by donating funds and clothes/food. Not to flame anyone, but what are you doing personally to help?

In any case, take time to say a prayer for the families who need it. Funny, I never really helped anyone until 9/11. I saw and experienced it so I guess now I'm aware of the needs of others expecially those who have lost everything.

and that video, one of the guys down there said that alot of communication has been really distorted. A flight was supposed to come to Charleston (my town) and ended up in Charleston W.V. that is just one of the many things.

Im not the United States government, i don't have unlimited resources like teh United States government. What has teh government done so far? We are teh richest country in the world, there is no reason why aid should take as long as it is taking. Im pretty sure when the Tsunami hit in Asia last year that the aid came alot faster.
