I always keep it in first gear with the e brake up. 1 because thats how I learned so its sort of a habit. 2 because the subaru ebrake isnt the best so unless you yank it hard enough to pull it out of the damn car it still rolls.

E-brake'n it in neutral. Someone said something about when parking on a steep incline they turn the wheels away from the curb...wouldn't "rollage" cause your ride to end up in the middle of the street?

thats what im talking about ^^ right when i got the subaru i accidentally left it in neutral and pulled the e brake but not enough and as i was getting out of the car it started rolling away down my friends driveway. Which is steep as hell and would have killed my car. Luckily i have cat like reflexes and quickly yanked that bitch as hard as i could.

Yeah, I thought about that, but even if you turn your wheels in towards the curb and the front end is facing uphill, you'd still be better off than turning them out. Don't force me to draw a picture...I'll do it.

wrong. if you are going up a hill and turn your wheels away and your car rolls back the tire will hit the curb and stop the car. unless of course you have 30" mud tires and in that case you might go over the curb.

Mark, I don't wanna be a dick, I reserve that for H-T. I dunno how big the curbs are where you're from, but the ones where I live aren't stopping my light-*** Civic from rolling anywhere. And thats when I'm done mudding in it and swap the 17's back on.
