Default 00 EX with floorboard water leak

I've found some good info here on the forum and have an issue I need cleared up. I've found the source of a water leak (both when sitting and driving) from what looks like a plastic plug in a through hole in the floor. It's about 3.5" down and to the right of the lowest mounting screw hole for the foot rest.

Does anyone know what this hole is there for? I've considered finding someone to weld a patch to the outside because I'm thinking that just replacing the plug will cause another leak later down the road.

Also, is there any tricks to removing/replacing this plug and what is the part name or number? Trying to look for a replacement part but can't seem to find it listed or show in a exploded diagram. I've searched the forum with no hits on this issue. I'm in the wet side of Washington State so it's a real problem.

Thanks,
Slugger

its for running aftermarket wiring probably.most firewalls have 1 or 2 that are not used...and several that are.plug it up if your not gonna use it for say wiring an amp,or running an extra battery in your trunk.i would just caulk it if you still have the plug..dont weld it...caulk will cut away later if you need it to

Not where I was convinced it was coming in. Looks like further up the drivers side body joint? Anyone seen this before? Back to the search
