Default 04 Civic Stereo Doesn't Recognize AUX/CHANGER

I have one of those converters that allows me to plug my iPod into the CD Changer / AUX port of the stock stereo. It has worked fine in the past by pressing the CD button twice to activate the disc changer mode, but it's no longer working. The odd thing is that the converter still draws power to charge the iPod, but pressing the CD button doesn't activate the auxiliary mode. Is there something I can do to get the stereo to "recognize" it? Will I have to tear the dash apart?
