Default "06 rear axle noise

Hi,

Just purchased an '06 civic ex. it has a loud noise coming from the rear axle. You start to hear it around 20 mph and it gets faster and louder as you get more speed. The seller said both rear tires are flat spotted. there is a little vibration but it is more noise than vibration. Almost like the tire tread is too aggressive like on trucks but the tread isn't aggressive. Any thoughts? I was also told by a friend that these cars and the '07's had a rear axle issue? Is this true? was there a recall? Thank you

Jack up the car to lift each rear wheel off the ground, and spin it by hand. If you hear noise, the bearing is bad. Also check for any looseness / wobble side to side.

Thank you. Do you know if there was any recall or factory recognized problems for the rear axles in these cars?
