1987 civic, No vacuum to EGR?
I have a 1987 Civic 4 cyl and it failed smog. The tech said it has no vacuum to the EGR valve. He said the EGR valve checks out ok but has no vacuum. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The carburetor ones are really complicated. There is a small analog computer but I think it only does the air mixture, everything else is thermal / vacuum / or mechanically controlled. Many parts have been discontinued long ago. I understand your mechanic's reluctance to touch it.
At the least you're going to need to find a real official Honda service manual before going in.
