1989 Civic DX die's at times while idleing, HELP
I have an 1989 civic dx Stock. It has 115k on it. I seems that after it warms up it die's at times. I've replaced the fuel filter, taken out the main relay and have resoldered all the connections on the printed circuit bd. Replace spark plugs with NGK type, replaced valve cover gasket and spark plug tube seals because there was alot of oil in the tubes. I also found the distributor cap coil pickup was corroded so I cleaned it, the spark plug connection tips, and also the coil connection inside the hole of the coil.
When the engine is cold it's seems to be okay. But while in PARK I rev the engine slightly until it good and warmed. The fan comes on after about 5 minutes. After the engine warms up the rpms drop some, then if I continue to rev the engine by taping the gas pedal then when it comes back down to an idle it will start to shake or miss a little. After I do this for a while it will finally die at times? But please remember it's okay while it's cold. I don't want to drive the car because it has done this a few times lately and had to be towed home( before I replaced the spark plugs, valve cover gasket, and clean the corroded distributor cap). It does seem after I installed the new spark plugs and cleaned out all the oil in the spark plug tubes it's much harder for me to get it to die. Any thoughts? Thanks
