1990 Alternator Removal and Install
I've seen a lot of different ways to get an alternator out (depending on year / model), so I thought I'd share what worked with a 1990 Civic. I'll skip all the mechanical and electrical disconnect details and talk only about getting the alternator out of the car and back.
Once the alternator is free, move it along the firewall towards the passenger side. There is a "wndow" that is defined by hoses. See photo. That's it. The alternator can be eased out by gently moving a hose aside as needed. You don't need to force it or disconnect any hoses.
Installation is going in the same way.
Note: There is one thing on re-connection that I'll mention. Access to the lower mounting bolt is easy by removing the front driver wheel.
