Exclamation 1993 Headlight problem

My sister has a 1993 Honda Civic and all of the headlights, both high and low beams, blinkers, etc stopped working. Fuse is fine and I replaced the switch on the steering column, but lights still are not working. Any other ideas on what could be wrong? Thanks

You did, of course, check or replace the bulbs? 95% of the time when something doesn't light up on a car, it's a bad bulb. So ALWAYS go to the bulb first and if it's good-- then investigate further. If the voltage regulator is malfunctioning and overvolting the system, every bulb on the car will blow out in short order.

Then check the grounds, near each headlight there is a fitting where a bunch of black wires go in and the fitting is bolted to the frame.

If it's not that you're going to need to get a voltmeter and see where the voltage is being lost. The circuit has power coming from a main fuse in the underhood fuse box through a heavy wire (I think it is white) to the light switch. This wire should be live (12 volts to ground) all the time. When the switch is on power comes out to fuses in the under dash fuse box. There is a separate fuse for each beam (i.e. left low, left high, right low, and right high). Both test points on the respective fuses should be live when the switch is on. If that's OK check for power at the bulbs, and check that the ground wire at each bulb is really grounded.

The turn signals don't have much in common with the headlights. Get the headlights working first before worrying about them.
