1993 honda civic. headlight messing up..BAD!
Ok im going to try to explain this as clear as possible so i can hopefully get a helpful answer..
As i stated in the title, i have a 1993 honda civic EX and ill go to turn my lights on and put them on highbeams. they work just fine but then i go and put them back to lowbeams and sometimes (usually most the time) they will cut completely off and just leave me with my marker lights. This only happens when i switch my lights from high to low and it also happens, very rarely, when i just have my lowbeams on they seem to flicker on and off. I dont know whether its a short in the wires, a fuse or something totally different. if anybody could give me an answer to whats exactly happening..that'd be greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
Ariel

headlight beam on low intermittent
+1 from the above post. The combination switch is dirty. You can remove the switch, disassemble it and clean it, and reinstall but it is not for the novice. Best bet, get a switch and a manual on how to install.

There is a writeup in the DIY section on how to clean that combination switch. I'd recommend trying to clean first, even if you're a novice. It's a good learning experience at least. Plus if it works, saves you cash.

If all the lights on the outside of the car work but not the cluster lights---
* Bad dimmer control.
* Blown fuse (only 1996 and later models, 1995 and earlier has the cluster on the same fuse as the tail / marker lights).
* Every single bulb burnt out. Consider this if you just acquired the car. Driving for years at full brightness will burn them out.

No gauge lights
+1 for MK's reply. Oftentimes just wiggling/rotating the dimmer control, located to the left of the steering column, will reinstate the dash lights. The potentiometer gets dirty/dead spot and has to be actuated the get rid of the gunk. Worked for me in several cars through the years, including two Civics.
Good luck, let us know.
