Click the CEL link in my signature to learn how to pull CEL codes yourself. Post the codes you pull.

The previous owner may have disabled the CEL by removing the CEL bulb in the cluster. Check that first.

You need to reset the ECU after repairs or the codes will still be stored (though the CEL, if it worked, will go out after the problems are fixed). You really have to have a working CEL to know what is going on.

To reset the ECU, disconnect the battery ground lead (with the key OFF) for about a minute. Or pull the "BACK UP" fuse out of the underhood fuse box for a minute, again with the key off. Either procedure is going to reset the radio, there is no way to avoid that.
