Default 1997 Honda Civic Lx problems

My car died a few months ago 141,000 miles. I checked everything twice, replace the coil and throttle position sensor. Got it running yesterday and drove it to work this morning. I do have a code 41 oxygen sensor but I don't think thats the problem.
The problem I am having now is when the car is in park the engine runs smooth as silk. Put the automatic transmission in gear and do around 2000 rpm the engine acts like it wants to die. Over 2000 rpm's and it sounds like the transmission kicks out of gear, the rpm's jump up and when I back off the throttle its shifts into gear (or at lest that's what it sounds like).
Trans oil is full. I checked all the sensors and everything seems ok.
Thanks for any help on the matter.

Did you calibrate your TPS and check it with a voltmeter?

I think the transmission is mechanically controlled though other than going into overdrive and locking the torque converter.

Looks like the TPS was loose. I remember setting it with a voltmeter...........
It's seems to be a lot better, Thanks!
Now the A/C has quit working, maybe I should trade this thing in.

start a new thread with a/c in your title. we can do our best to get it working again. of course, you need to describe in more detail what you mean by "quit working" as there are many things that can go wrong. Don't give up on it yet.
