Default 2000 civic dx help

I bought a sunpro tach for my car and im having trouble finding the negative terminal on the ignition coil, or the TACH terminal to hook up one of the wires to, if someone could help me out with this or direct me in the right direction it would really help or if i could get a wiring diagram of a 2000 civic dx. thank you

well IMO sell the tach and just buy a 96-00 EX cluster. its a direct plug and play and tach looks stock of course. no holes in your dash to mount the huge ugly tach....

or if you like the SI cluster that will work also but be at least twice the cost of a EX cluster!

Just outside the distributor, there is a plug with 2 wires, the smaller wire in that plug is the tach signal. This signal is also run to the stock cluster on a blue wire, even in models with no factory tach. As addiction2bass said, you can swap in the cluster from a model with factory tach and it will work with no rewiring.

the tach wire is also on the main engine harness, drivers side, near firewall next to the clutch cylinder. theres 2 large harness plugs and one smaller wire on another conector just stuck onto the metal bracket. that wire is also your tach wire.

but IMO just get a EX cluster and have it factory looking and no hacking any wires. just simply 6 screws remove and afew electrical plugs on the back of the cluster and simply plug the ex cluster into it and put the 6screws back in and your done!

FYI OP: The tach signal comes from the ECU not the distributor for 99-00 Civics. As mk said, it's on a blue wire.
