I have a 2000 honda civic that shakes while my foot is on the accelerator at around 40 mph, but it stops shaking as soon as I take my foot off the pedal. What could this be and how much would it cost to get it fixed. PLEASE HELP ME!!!

 

Two possibilities that come to mind are a bad motor mount(s) or bad axle(s). Check the axles first for excess free play or a torn inner or outer CV joint boot.

Could be misfiring, consider a basic tune-up by replacing the ignition parts (cap, rotor, wires, plugs). Misfiring will happen every time you step on the gas moderately hard with the engine rpm relatively low, regardless of the gear. This is about $120 in parts from a dealer and a minimal amount of labor. Misfiring that bad should also set the engine light on though.

 

sometimes mine will shake very violently when I am pushing on the gas pedal but immedietly stops when I let off. Not sure if its the same shaking but mine seems to go more up and down than just random shaking. but I have noticed that it only seems to happen when I am low on oil. So check your oil level. could be as easy as that. but your shaking may not be the same as mine
