Default 2000 HONDA CIVIC SI

I bought a short shifter for my civic. I had my mecanic change it because I didn't know how. Now when I change gears the shifter is stiff and hard to move. Is this normal?

What kinda short throw shifter did you buy? Cuz I had the same problem. Whats happening is the bottom of your shifter is rubbing on your exhaust. Or at least thats what mine was doing. Sometimes you can fix it by grinding off the counter weights.

I bought it on Ebay 96-00 HONDA CIVIC BILLET SHORT SHIFTER. I don't know if it's cable or rod moved. How do I know if it's placed correctly? How can I lube it?

I think u might have to start the whole thing over again, cuz u might have to lube up the new shifter and slide on the shifter pivot hardware.

Here is a link step by step and what to lube up.

Its going to be harder to shift, because you are doing the same amount of work as before, but with less movement, so you have to work harder to get it done as you have less leverage. But from the sound of it, the mechanic tightened the lower pivot bolt on the shifter too much, and if you loosen that up and use a little locktight or double-nut it so it doesnt wiggle off, then it should take care of the stiffness.

Oh, and theres no shift cables on a 2000 Si.
