2001 Civic LX Transmission Code P0704 and P0740
I have a 2001 Civic LX. About 3 weeks ago, the CEL came on with a single P0704 Code. I read several posts etc. and bought enough ATF from Honda to to two fluid changes.
Two weeks ago, I replaced the fluid. I found no metal in the fluid or on the drain plug magnet. I drove the car about 75 miles per day for a two weeks with no CEL. Then, yesterday it came on again. This time the code was P0740.
Since I had fluid, I changed it again as I read it may take 2-3 drain and fills to clean the TCC valve. Also, once again, no metal and the drain plug was clean.
I have no other symptoms. The car drives and shifts normally (so far as I can tell).
Has anyone had this issue (meaning code P0704 followed by P0740) and does this mean the tranny is dying?
The P704 seemed to point to a sticking TCC valve. Has anyone ever pulled and cleaned one of these successfully?
Would appreciate any help.
