Default 2002 Civic SRS light - retrieve diagnostic code?

Hi all -

I have an '02 Civic EX SSRS for which the SRS light has illuminated (always-on).

My Honda dealer told me that it was a Code 7-2 Internal Failure of the SRS Unit; they reset it, and it stayed off for ~2 weeks.

However, the light has come on (and stayed on) again.

Resetting it by using the MEC connector with a jumper has not worked; it comes right back on (followed protocol at top of this thread). I also checked the battery voltage, which is OK.

I am curious to know whether it is possible to pull the DTC diagnostic code for this by myself? I cannot seem to locate the blue service connector under the glovebox which is present on older models; did they remove this for the 2002 vehicle?

Bob

For 7th generation Civics (01-05), you apparently need a Honda PGM tester (A or B) to read the trouble codes.
