I have no idea why it is on. It started out to flash when i turned the car on than go away. Now it is solid as soon as the car is turned on. The car still runs perfect and shows no sign of problems.

The vehicle has 58k miles. Any ideas? or will it HAVE to be run through a program at a shop.

 

If it's not the check engine light, then the light is simply a friendly reminder for you to change the oil.

 

thanks. but why would it kick on after only 2000 miles? is there a specific spot it kicks on in the mileage reguardless of when you get it done?

 

It registers mileage since the last reset.

 

but if i remember correctly, the light has been on sinceBEFORE the oil change...did they change the oil incorrectly? should i go somewhere else?

 

they probily forgot to reset the light or didnt know how. i believe on those you gotta hold the trip/reset button down and turn the key on, once the light blinks it should be reset

 

it comes on when you are very close for an oil change.

 

so basically it wasn't possible if that's the method because i went to a 15 min oil change place and they didn't even step foot in my car... so it couldn't have been reset. ugh, jerks :P. Oh well, i'll go to a different place to change my oil this time, thank you all very much!
