I was hoping someone might have had this problem and figured it out.

We purchased a 2009 Honda Civic from a private seller. Clear title and clean accident history.

Only after getting it up to highway speeds did we learn that the car feels like the rear end is floating, and over bumps, wants to jump all over the place. We replaced the tires hoping it would solve the problem. It didn't.

My mechanic took a look and can't find anything wrong to the eye, but he said he can definetely feel it. He didn't see shock/strut problems or sway bar problems.

Any thoughts? It is a scary feeling. I've been in cars with bad sway bars, it feels the same.

 

sway bar has to do with body roll, that sounds like bad shocks...
