Default 30,000 maint.

in the honda manual for my car, it says to have a maintence done by a lisenced honda mechanic at 30,000 miles. when i called my dealer about it, they told me it would cost ~500 dollars. i dont have that kind of money. im at about 35,000 now (i know terrible) and i do oil changes when needed. i dont remember what the mechanic told me they do in this "500 dollars" service, but i was wondering if anyone here did.

i feel like my car is slowly dieing on me, as it does not feel as quirky as it did when i first bought it, acceleration is slow/delayed and i just feel like the the car overall is bogged down.

The manual says what to do at each mileage. Technically you can do it yourself and still keep the warranty in force, if you had done it on time.

Your poor performance may be a clogged air filter or worn out spark plugs, I think both of those are due at 30,000.

i checked it out and it seemed like my tranny fluid was low, which was causing the "hitchy" acceleration also i clean my air intake regularly, (i have a short ram intake) and i haven't gone into replacing the spark plugs, is that a undertaking? or naw

^^ good stuff. It shows timing belt for 30,000... that's probably "Inspect/clean timing belt". You normally need that replaced every 90,000 miles or so. Or you could simply call Honda, ask them what services are performed at 30,000, and then take it upon yourself to do it.

I always thought that a warranty would be voided if you did the services yourself, and not a license/certified mechanic. But I have never owned a factory warranted car, so I wouldn't really know.
