4000 rpm shutter

The check engine light comes on shortly after the car is started.When I get it to 4000rpm it start to sputter and wont really move.Other times the light doesnt come on and the car drives fine.I just changed out the coolant sensor yesterday and it ran fine till later in the day.What the hell could it be?
