Default 90 DX Motor Cutting out

I've had my 90 DX for 6 months now and she has been remarkably trouble free for a 21 year old car. 2 Months ago she cut out once on me on the freeway for just a second. Tonight while climbing the hill into the city on the freeway she did it again. It got worse and she started cutting out more and more. I can't tell whether it's electric or fuel. It kinda chugged a bit and lost power, and needs feathering of the accelerator to stay afloat, but when it does this there's a loss of motor sound and the car bogs down and wants to die. I pulled off the freeway and the symptoms faded as I drove slower in lower gears. Then ran fine the rest of the way. I just don't have the words to explain it. If you know what is causing this or know how to find out let me know.

Thanks, Kris

Is the LED on the ECU blinking any codes?

You might start with a tune up that includes replacing the fuel filter, plugs, wires, cap, and rotor.

No, not that I know of. I didn't know there was an main ECU on my 90 DX. Where is the light at? Yeah, all I have done in the tune up dept is replace the plugs. The wires look like they have been replaced as well as the cap, but I'll never know until I replace them.

The ECU is under the carpet on the firewall where the passenger's feet would be. Pull the carpet down and there is a small red LED behind a window on the ECU itself. Turn the key on (do not start engine) and watch the LED. If it starts blinking there is a code stored. Count the blinks between pauses.
