91 civic wagon/shuttle. Brake lights not coming on. Good bulbs/fuses, switch slides..
I have a 91 civic wagon. Brake lights aren't coming on. The rear night time lights come on... But when I push the pedal I'm not getting a brake light. Not even the 3rd light.
ALL fuses are good and intact. Bulbs are good, right size/filament.
When I push the brake in, the switch piece slides out...
BUT, there's a blue and red wire, that connects to that "3M" adapter. Both ends on each side of that 3M adapter are cut. The green wire (that runs from the brake switch) is still intact.
Is the red and blue important? I can't see where either side runs so I'm unsure of what it does...
Any tips on what to trouble shoot next would rock!
Thanks guys.
Edit here's the wire by the way...

Uber thanks...
So... The mainfuse box is the fuse box located by the pedal right? Or is it the fusebox under the hood that most cars run A/C power/relays through, and have ~80 amp fuses?
And since I have a wagon, the 3rd roof brake light - would have it's OWN series channel, correct (like the right and left light)? Uninterrupted from an issue in the Right and Left brake lights?
How would I check continuity with the brake pedal pushed? If it's plugged up, I can't reach the terminals right?
Sorry I ask soo much. I think I just confuse myself

Unplug the switch. Put a jumper wire in the plug. If the lights come on, switch must be bad, replace it. If lights don't come on check for voltage on the white/green wire, indicating fuses are OK. If you have voltage there could be a break in the wire to the back of the car. If all the lights are on the hatch, it is very common for the wire to break where it goes across from the body to the hatch.
The main fuse box is under the hood next to the battery. It has both large and small fuses in it.
That damn scotchlock is not stock (and yes, alway put "damn" in front of "scotchlock").

And the scotchlock has one of the green wires from the brake running through it...

did you buy it used? If so, do you know if it was used for towing anything? That sounds like it could have been a splice into the brakes for a braking unit.
Don't know for sure, but what it sounds like to me why the DAMN scotchlock.

Anyway, I got it fixed!
It was simply a fuse under the hood. I thought it was ran through the tail lights fuse under the dash. But it runs off the one under the hood. Just like the horn that still doesn't work.
Pushing the horn dims all the lights in the car. I assume the horn(s) are bad. But the brake lights work now. Lame, how easy stuff can be when I jump straight to the worst scenario.
