93 civic dx hatchback BIG problem HELP!!
hey i have a 93 hatch dx automatic running like crap i got kid on the way and im on highways alot i need fixed but i wanna find problem first ok heres the situation
-Bad gas mileage
-engine running rich "black smoke through idle and drive"
-rough idle and reverse
-VERY slow acceleration
-doesnt want to go above 60 mph when push gas pedal down harder car sounds like its reving lol
-there are holes in the exhaust
-gas smell from exhaust
-when the car warms up it stalls in reverse
-overheats when idling for more then 5 mins
the things ive done to the car is new oxygen sensor'new air intake with new filter
clean the fuel injectors'new spark plugs'oil change'brand new tires'new muffler.
if anyone could help that would be nice =) ty

Is there no CEL (Check Engine Light)? If the CEL is on pull the code. Check that the CEL works, i.e. bulb has not been removed. Should come on (bulb test) every time you turn key on but don't start.
Running rich: Check the fuel pressure (will need a fuel pressure gauge and adapter kit). Check that the vacuum hose is connected from the top of the fuel pressure regulator to the manifold. Remove spark plugs and inspect if one is blacker than the rest. If one cylinder is strange, could be bad fuel injector on that cylinder.
Poor performance: (resolve running rich FIRST, get it to run without smoking). Check timing, both cam and spark. Catalytic converter could be melted down from prolonged running rich. Engine revs up but car doesn't go faster could be transmission problem.

the cel does not light up when i turn the key "not turning the car on" maybe the prev owner took light out but ima see if i can check the fuel pressure but i can defiantly check the spark plus il check when i have my tools and camera to take pictures LOL =) ty for responding =)
