Default 93 civic wont start

I have a 93 civic thatstarts when it wants too! It will turn over, Has spark. I changed the main relay, ignition checks out with test light. When I here the fuel pump car will start. noticed tonight if I turn the key on and let it set for a few minutes I heard the relay and pump come on, also theengine lite goes out and car will start. any ideas

When you turn the key, do you not hear anything for the first minute or two? Then, without doing anything, you suddenly hear the pump go on? That would be a sign of a bad electrical connection: either the main relay, fuel pump, or somewhere in-between. When you changed the relay, did you get a new one or from a junkyard? If it's a used relay, try re-soldering the connections.
