94 civic ignition problem
The car won't turn over. I took the starter to autozone to get it tested and it passed. I'm thinking the switch in the clutch may be bad. It makes a humming noise when I hit the key but I've read that that noise could just be the fuel pump. What other components are there in the ignition system that could cause this problem?
if the engine does not turn over at all there are a few things it could be. Does it sound like the starter is trying very hard to crank? does the starter not work at all?
If the engine cranks over but does not actually start there are a few things you need to check out.
more information about what it is doing (or NOT doing) would be good. It helps us help you!

Test the starter and battery and connections between them on the car by jumping the starter. Unplug the small wire from the starter (which was plugged in, right?) and run a jumper from the terminal for the small wire to the battery (+). The engine should crank, so make sure the car is in neutral and the brake set. If that test passes the most common problem is the rubber pad that presses the clutch pedal switch falls out. The switch is at the very top of the pedal assembly. If you have two switches, the lower one is for the cruise control.
I think this was the problem (mentioned on another forum).
