Just bought a 94 del sol w/ b16a3 Vtec and it has after market gauges on it and the water temp heats up to 210 and the fans cut on. I took it to my mechanic and he put a thermostat in it and its the same now he is sayin im gonna need a low temp fan switch, could this be my gauge is off or what could it be?

 

at what temperatue should the fan come on ?
seems like it is the sensor if anything.

i meant to say thermal fan switch (the sensor refers to the unit that gives the guage in the instrument panel its settings).
it is located in the radiator - bottom of the rad at least for my '88.

if you wanted to go to the trouble of testing it, you could place it in a pot of water on the stove with a thermometer in it and boil the water. have an ohmmeter hooked up to it. note the temperature where the circuit becomes closed.

 

thermal fan switch ok so thats about how much to replace and if its not that could it be the COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR or could that be the same.

 

The boiling water post is the best idea, get an idea if the sensor is ****ed and if not what temp its turning on at
