Default 95 dx idle and shifting problem

I just dropped an new engine & tranny in my 95dx. This was my first time and everything seemed to go just fine. I dropped it in hooked all my wires and hoses up, and it started right up. But when I start it up it chugs in time, then it warms up and purrs like a kitten, and stalls. I think it may be my coil but not 100% sure.

Another one of my problems is I forgot to disconnect my shifting cable that runs to my center console when jacking my engine out, and I may have damaged it. I hooked it up but it seems to have to much slack in it, and when I go to shift out of park it doesn't change gears at all. I can start my car so i know its in neutral or park, but the crazy thing is is my passenger side half shaft is in gear, and making my tire spin. I don't know if I just need to replace my shifting cable, or if the tranny I got is a lemon.

Any help would be appreciated.
