I have a 1998 4 door civic and its automatic..4 the past few weeks it is giving me problems when i shift from park to reverse then to drive.then back from drive to reverse to park.it seems to be getting stuck in between gears.i really have to push it up and down to get it into the right gear...any ideas what the problem could be???thanks....

how is this the wrong forum? i would take it to the dealer and have them check it...or you could tinker with the shift linkage a little.

My car did the same thing. Something was wrong with the shift linkage. It wasn't the actual shift lever, it was the wire that connects the lever to the transmission. You can check by disconnecting the wire (which is what I did). You will see that the lever moves freely. The wire binds up/gets stuck sometimes which is whyyou have the problem. I'm not saying that is your problem for sure, but that is what ended up bieng the problem with my civic (94 LX Sedan).
