96 civic dx hard to start when engines warm
please help. my daughters civic starts and runs excellent when engines cool, but after engines is warmed-up, such as stopping for fuel, it wont start. I replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and coil. but it still does the same thing,,, please advise thks
Check to see if the fuel pump cycles when the car is still warm by turning the key onto the second click in the igition. The check engine light should come on for 2 seconds and go off and you should hear the fuel pump(behind the rear seats) cycle for 2 seconds as well....if you don't hear it then something is wrong with main relay(fuel relay) and it can be repaired by soldering or you can replace it.
I'm assuming it cranks but does not start. While it won't start, check if the ignition system is firing (pull one of the spark plug wires, put a spare plug in it, hold the plug against the engine and crank). You could have heat issues with the ICM.
i just had the same problem and it turned out to be the ect (engine coolant temp sensor) the ecu was reading the car was still cool and sending more fuel to the injectors when the car was hot in turn flooding the motor its a cheap fix try that first if that doesnt work i would try the main fuel relay next.... get back let me know how it work out for ya...
