Default 96 Civic No Start

My son's 96 Civic's battery died on him. He replaced it but all he has are the flashers, no dash indications, no radio, nothing. I had him check the fuse box under the hood and the battery connections, but he can't find anything. He is not a car mechanic. I am but I am 200 miles away. If anyone can think of something that would result in this condition, please reply. I'd like to avoid a trip down there if possible. I believe it has a D16Y7 engine in it if that matters. I recently replaced the ignition coil and module. The car hadn't been giving him any problems before the batter died.

If all of the hood fuses are fine, then the ignition switch might be bad. Nonetheless, have him first check whether the fuel pump primes for 2 seconds when the key is turned to ON(II) and whether there is bright white spark at the plugs.

Do the headlights work? Check the ground wire from the battery to the frame and the transmission. I would tend to think that this problem happened first and he thought it was simply a dead battery.
