Default 96 DX AC Recharge

Is it cost effective (or even possible) to recharge the AC myself?
What's involved?
How is it done?
R12 at 23 oz. you sayRon J?

It's hot in the northeast right now!

Default RE: 96 DX AC Recharge

I was incorrect in the mentioned post. Civics apparently converted to R134a refrigerant by 1995.

You need manifold gauges to fill your A/C system with refrigerant. You can't assume the system is entirely empty. In addition, if the system had a major leak and has allowed air and water vapor into the system, the leak must be fixed and the system evacuated. Water present in air will react with the refrigerant, leading to destruction in the A/C system.

Default follow-up

Hey Fint- I've got a 96 dx too, and need to recharge a/c. Wondering if you ended up getting yours repaired and how you did it. Thanks!
