Default 96 dx miss firing

I have a 1996 DX 5 speed coupe with 178k and I accidentally drove it through a hug rain puddle and then it wouldnt start, i took apart the distributor cap and dried out the extremely minimal amount of water that was in there, it started up and then it started miss firing and make this electrical "CH!" sound everytime it would miss, but only when it was very wet out, now it's doing it all the time, it only happens maybe once every 2-3 minutes, any thoughts? i'm guessing i need a new distributor but i thought i should check here before i blow some cash i dont have...

thanks in advance

Jordan

Open the distributor up and let it air dry for a bit. There might be residual water in there.

When was the last time the plugs and wires were changed?
